- Owl's Wings: Paryushana: Depending on sect and location, the practitioners of Jainism are now ending their most important religious period of the year, the Paryushana. It has been a time of retreat and contemplation, for Paryushana literally means to close in, to remain near to one?s self and soul. Paryushana stems from the tradition of monks remaining in their towns during the rainy season. The rainy season can last several months, but the minimum duration for is 70 days.

- Kevala Jñ?na - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: Kevala Jñ?na ( Sanskrit : ????????? )or Kevala ???a (Prakrit : ???? ???) in Jainism, (also known as "absolute knowledge" ;, "Enlighte ment" and ?Omniscience?) is the highest form of knowledge that a soul can attain. It is derived from two words ? Kevala, which means ?absolute or perfect? and Jñ?na, which means ?knowledge?. Kevala is the state of isolation of the j?va from the aj?va attained through ascetic practices which burn off one's karmic residues, releasing one from bondage to the cycle of death and rebirth. Kevala Jñ?na thus means infinite knowledge of self and non-self, attained by a soul after annihilation of the all gh?tiy? karmas. [1] A person who has attained Kevala Jñ?na is called a Kevali. He is also known as Jina (the victor) or Arhat (the worthy one). A Tirthankara is a kevali who preaches the Jain doctrine and establishes the Jaina order. The soul who has reached this stage achieves moksa or liberation at the end of his life span.
